Momma says she ain’t never come cross a day as bright as Sunday. That’s why she sings and carries on sending praises up, thanking the lord for her life. My shoes shined, suit pressed, and face greased, feeling all crispy; while the kids look in it for their reflection. They make their clown faces and call me the “lil’ ol’ oil, slick back boy”.. Momma says God is love and no matter what, I should love my enemies and pray for them. So I figured as much, but the lord ain’t make nothing as evil as this grinch. When he speaks a tempest erupts, throwing everyone into madness and anger. I never, I never understood why some treat others like they’re a piddlin’ inferior piece of trash. Sometimes I’m just fixin’ to put my foot up where the sun don’t shine, and stomp out that sorry excuse of a boy. But God is love, and he said let not your heart be troubled; for in the time of trouble, he shall strengthen your heart. That’s when I start my head noddin’, foot stompin’, and hand clapping praise; heaven is going to hear me today. “All through the night .. All through the day.. The lord keeps sending, blessings my way, lord help me! Help me Jesus!” Momma stopped her praise in surprise, looked at me saying, “that’s my boy, come on now … sang it!”
